I purchased a £55.00 Antler branded roller suitcase on 3 March 2018 and took it on its first overseas trip just a few days later. On the return leg of my trip, I stowed the handle, but it wouldn't release again. It was completely stuck.
"Not a problem", I thought. These things happen. But reluctant to take advantage of a warranty on a brand new product, I took it back to the store for an exchange.
I was left to wait at the register for some time before the only visible member of staff acknowledged me, explaining that she wouldn't be long. She was assisting other customers on the shop floor.
She then returned to the register, bringing one customer with her, and proceeded to serve her. Basically a 'queue jump'. Me pointing out that I expected to be served first fell on deaf ears.
The rude assistant - who I shall not name - then left the register to assist the other customer on the shop floor. She did not offer an apology (not then and not, in fact, at any time during this ordeal) and nor did she excuse herself. She simply left to assist customers who, from what I can see, did not require her assistance.
When I asked if a member of staff hovering in the stock room could come and assist, I was told, "no, she's new". Now, forgive me, but I am pretty sure that even a monkey could sell a suitcase. This new member of staff could have relieved the less than helpful one, allowing her to process my transaction.
As a result of the appalling service, I decided to refund my suitcase and not to exchange. Antler is not worthy of my business.
I am also convinced that products sold in this store are manufactured for outlets. I do not believe that they are made to the same high specification as full priced items. Some of the RRPs, especially on the cheaper Relevation branded items, are dubious too.
If you want a quality product and service, go to Samsonite a few doors away.
